Beau M. K. Prichard | Writer/Director
I was born in Australia, raised in New Zealand and then Seattle, and educated by Quakers in Oregon. I remember very distinctly that my first time giving direction was helping an actor run her lines for a youth production of Anne of Green Gables. She had a question about character motivation that I was able to explain because my mom had shown me the AoGG miniseries. While I studied some theatre in college, and wrote and directed a short play, after I graduated, I spent my twenties trying and not succeeding to be a novelist. I returned to theatre and Seattle at the same time in 2007, and most of my writing since then has been more oriented to stage and film rather than prose. I have worked regularly, if not frequently, as a stage director since. My original work, The Veteran’s Day Project, had its world premiere at Tacoma Little Theater in 2018, and that was the culmination of a decade’s worth of work. I have directed a half-dozen premieres, and am very proud to say I directed my friend and frequent collaborator, Scott C. Brown, to a Sound on Stage best performance award for his work as Rothko in John Logan’s Red at Burien Actor’s Theatre last year. Big thanks to my parents for always supporting my artistic lunacy, even if it is occasionally through gritted teeth. Thanks to Clayton Weller for letting me take a dozen weird and wild shots at The Pocket (RIP). Bless Andy and Scott for always showing up and making me look good. Especially special thanks to Melissa for believing in me and this project. If you want to hear me talk at length about this show and where it comes from, I was interviewed about it here.
